The RGCQ Contributes to the Development of International Exchanges in Co-ownership
News
The Regroupement des gestionnaires et copropriétaires du Québec (RGCQ) continues its commitment to promoting Québec expertise in co-ownership internationally. On September 23, its President, Me Yves Joli-Cœur, took part in a working meeting in Paris of the International Association of Syndics and Co-ownership Managers (AISGC), of which he is also Vice-President.
Meeting at the offices of Me Charles Bohbot, representatives from France, Québec, Portugal, Morocco and Belgium continued their work to structure exchanges among co-ownership professionals from different jurisdictions.
Founded in 2026 and chaired by Gilles Frémont, the AISGC aims to bring co-ownership professionals closer together despite differing legal frameworks. Building maintenance, financing of major work, governance and support for co-owners are among the common issues faced by the countries represented.
Promoting Québec Expertise
The RGCQ's participation in the AISGC reflects its commitment to fostering knowledge sharing and the development of professional practices in co-ownership.
For Québec, these international exchanges provide an opportunity to showcase the experience gained in areas such as planning major work, contingency funds, maintenance logbooks and governance. These issues also resonate with co-ownership managers and co-owners elsewhere in the world.
During the meeting, Me Yves Joli-Cœur also presented his book Fonds de prévoyance et gouvernance – Prévoir, entretenir, attester. The book is aligned with the objectives of the AISGC's work: to better equip those responsible for buildings and promote decisions based on clear information and long-term planning.
These exchanges are not intended to directly transpose methods from one country to another, but rather to compare experiences, identify practices that can be adapted and develop solutions that take into account the specific realities of each jurisdiction.
Collaboration Across Five Jurisdictions
The September 23 meeting was held at the offices of Me Charles Bohbot, a lawyer involved in the founding of the AISGC and legal counsel to the organization.
Alongside Me Yves Joli-Cœur were Gilles Frémont, President of the AISGC and representative of France's Association nationale des gestionnaires de copropriété (ANGC), as well as Jean-Pierre Lannoy, representing Belgium.
The association's governance reflects its international scope. Gonçalo Matos represents Portugal and serves as Treasurer, while Tarik Zniber represents Morocco and serves as Secretary General. Jean-Pierre Lannoy also participates in the General Secretariat for Belgium.
The AISGC thus provides a framework through which industry stakeholders can compare their working methods, identify common challenges and consider solutions adapted to different national contexts.
The RGCQ Will Continue the Exchanges in November
The Paris meeting marks another step in the development of this international collaboration. The exchanges will continue in November as part of the Paris–Brussels mission organized by the RGCQ.
The AISGC will notably be present at the Salon de la copropriété in Paris on November 5. The Québec delegation will then travel to Belgium to continue discussions with professionals and industry representatives.
This mission will allow the RGCQ to strengthen ties with its international partners, compare practices on the ground and identify areas that could lead to future collaboration.
Through its participation in the AISGC and the organization of this mission, the RGCQ intends to actively contribute to the international dialogue on co-ownership while showcasing the expertise developed in Québec in building management, maintenance and governance.
